A vulnerability was found in Honeywell OPOS Suite up to 1.13.4.13 and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file HWOPOSScale.ocx. Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in (1) HWOPOSScale.ocx and (2) HWOPOSSCANNER.ocx in Honeywell OPOS Suite before 1.13.4.15 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted file that is improperly handled by the Open method.
The weakness was shared 12/12/2014 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared at kb.cert.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-8269 since 10/12/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
