Apache CloudStack 4.0.0-incubating and Citrix CloudPlatform (formerly Citrix CloudStack) before 3.0.6 stores sensitive information in the log4j.conf log file, which allows local users to obtain (1) the SSH private key as recorded by the createSSHKeyPair API, (2) the password of an added host as recorded by the AddHost API, or the password of an added VM as recorded by the (3) DeployVM or (4) ResetPasswordForVM API.
The weakness was released 01/10/2013 by Ahmad Emneina with Citrix as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. The public release was coordinated with Apache. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-5616 since 10/24/2012. The exploitability is told to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. The requirement for exploitation is a authentication. Technical details and a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1552 for this issue.
