A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Attachmate Reflection FTP Client up to 14.1.428. Affected by this issue is an unknown function in the library rftpcom.dll of the component ActiveX Control. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in the rftpcom.dll ActiveX control in Attachmate Reflection FTP Client before 14.1.429 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors to the StartLog method.
The weakness was disclosed 02/06/2015 by Andrea Micalizzi (rgod) with Zero Day Initiative (Website). The advisory is shared for download at zerodayinitiative.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-0604 since 12/28/2013. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Upgrading to version 14.1.429 eliminates this vulnerability.
