Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in IBM WebSphere Portal 8.5.0 before CF05 allows remote authenticated users to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted URL.
The weakness was disclosed 03/05/2015 as Reference #1697213 as confirmed security bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared at www-304.ibm.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-0177 since 11/18/2014. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1600 for this issue.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 82029 (IBM WebSphere Portal 8.0.0.x < 8.0.0.1 CF15 / 8.5.0.0 < 8.5.0.0 CF05 Multiple XSRF / XSS (PI34987, PI33329, PI35228)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses.
