A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Samsung iPOLiS Device Manager 1.12.2. Affected by this issue is the function WriteConfigValue of the file XnsSdkDeviceIpInstaller.ocx of the component OCX ActiveX Control. The manipulation of the argument first with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Buffer overflow in the XnsSdkDeviceIpInstaller.ocx ActiveX control in Samsung iPOLiS Device Manager 1.12.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long string in the first argument to the (1) ReadConfigValue or (2) WriteConfigValue function.
The weakness was presented 02/24/2015 as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-0555 since 01/05/2015. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
