Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2013 Gold and SP1 and SharePoint Server 2013 Gold and SP1 allows remote authenticated users to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted request, aka "Microsoft SharePoint XSS Vulnerability."
The weakness was presented 03/11/2015 as MS15-022 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared at technet.microsoft.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-1636 since 02/17/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 81757 (MS15-022: Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office Could Allow Remote Code Execution (3038999)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 110251 (Microsoft Office Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities (MS15-022)).
Applying the patch MS15-022 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com.
