A vulnerability was found in SCADA Engine BACnet OPC up to 2.1.359.21 (SCADA Software) and classified as critical. Format string vulnerability in BACnOPCServer.exe in the SOAP web interface in SCADA Engine BACnet OPC Server before 2.1.371.24 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via format string specifiers in a request.
The weakness was disclosed 03/13/2015 (Website). The advisory is shared at ics-cert.us-cert.gov. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-0980 since 01/10/2015. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 123401 (SCADA Engine BACnet OPC Server Multiple Vulnerabilities).
Upgrading to version 2.1.359.22 eliminates this vulnerability.
