A vulnerability was found in Yoast WordPress SEO (Content Management System) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the file admin/class-bulk-editor-list-table.php of the component admin/. The manipulation of the argument order with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in admin/class-bulk-editor-list-table.php in the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin before 1.5.7, 1.6.x before 1.6.4, and 1.7.x before 1.7.4 for WordPress allow remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) order_by or (2) order parameter in the wpseo_bulk-editor page to wp-admin/admin.php. NOTE: this can be leveraged using CSRF to allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands.
The weakness was released 03/17/2015 (Website). The advisory is available at yoast.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-2292 since 03/13/2015. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
A public exploit has been developed by Ryan Dewhurst and been published before and not just after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as highly functional. By approaching the search of inurl:admin/class-bulk-editor-list-table.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. Upgrading to version 1.6.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
