A vulnerability was found in Linuxfoundation cups-filters up to 1.0.64 (Printing Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function remove_bad_chars of the file utils/cups-browsed.c of the component Filters. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a command injection vulnerability. The remove_bad_chars function in utils/cups-browsed.c in cups-filters before 1.0.66 allows remote IPP printers to execute arbitrary commands via consecutive shell metacharacters in the (1) model or (2) PDL. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2014-2707.

The weakness was disclosed 03/24/2015 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at ubuntu.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-2265 since 03/09/2015. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
