The _validaterepo function in sshpeer in Mercurial before 3.2.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a crafted repository name in a clone command.

The weakness was shared 03/31/2015 by Jesse Hertz (Website). The advisory is shared for download at osvdb.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-9462 since 01/02/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
