A vulnerability was found in Dulwich up to 0.9.8 and classified as critical. This issue affects the function build_index_from_tree of the file git/. The build_index_from_tree function in index.py in Dulwich before 0.9.9 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a commit with a directory path starting with .git/, which is not properly handled when checking out a working tree.
The weakness was published 03/31/2015 by Jelmer (Website). The advisory is shared at lists.launchpad.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-9706 since 03/22/2015.
