CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as very critical was found in Google Chrome up to 24.0.1312.52 (Web Browser). Affected by this vulnerability is the function WebRtcAudioRenderer::Initialize of the file webrtc_audio_renderer.cc. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

content/renderer/media/webrtc_audio_renderer.cc in Google Chrome before 24.0.1312.56 on Mac OS X does not use an appropriate buffer size for the 96 kHz sampling rate, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a web site that provides WebRTC audio.

The weakness was presented 01/22/2013 by Ted Nakamura (OUSPG) with Chromium Development Community as confirmed bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared at googlechromereleases.blogspot.ch. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with Google. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-0843 since 01/07/2013. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 04/24/2017). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future.

The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 120812 (Google Chrome Prior to 24.0.1312.56 Multiple Vulnerabilities).

Upgrading to version 24.0.1312.56 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at chrome.google.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (81439), SecurityFocus (BID 57502†), OSVDB (89502†), Secunia (SA51935†) and SecurityTracker (ID 1028030†).
