The weakness was published 01/22/2013 by Chris Evans (OUSPG) with Google Chrome Security Team as 169770 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at code.google.com. The public release has been coordinated with Google. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-0841 since 01/07/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 24.0.1312.56 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at chrome.google.com. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at codereview.chromium.org. The problem might be mitigated by replacing the product with Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer or Opera as an alternative. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
