Adobe Flash Player before 13.0.0.281 and 14.x through 17.x before 17.0.0.169 on Windows and OS X and before 11.2.202.457 on Linux does not properly restrict discovery of memory addresses, which allows attackers to bypass the ASLR protection mechanism via unspecified vectors, a different vulnerability than CVE-2015-3040.
The weakness was presented 04/14/2015 by Jihui Lu (bilou) with KeenTeam (Website). The advisory is shared for download at helpx.adobe.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-0357 since 12/01/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 84156 (Adobe AIR <= 17.0.0.144 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB15-06)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 123524 (Adobe Flash Player Multiple Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities (APSB15-06)).
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 17046.
