The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-2712 since 03/25/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 83389 (FreeBSD : mozilla -- multiple vulnerabilities (d9b43004-f5fd-4807-b1d7-dbf66455b244)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family FreeBSD Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 167833 (OpenSuSE Security Update for MozillaFirefox (openSUSE-SU-2015:0934-1)).
Upgrading to version 38 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
