calendar/externallib.php in Moodle through 2.5.9, 2.6.x before 2.6.7, 2.7.x before 2.7.4, and 2.8.x before 2.8.2 allows remote authenticated users to obtain sensitive calendar-event information via a web-services request.
The weakness was presented 06/01/2015 by SkOd (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at moodle.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-0215 since 11/18/2014. The attack can be launched remotely. The successful exploitation needs a single authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1592 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
By approaching the search of inurl:calendar/externallib.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 81360 (Fedora 21 : moodle-2.7.5-1.fc21 (2015-1751)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 123327 (Fedora Security Update for moodle (FEDORA-2015-1751)).
Upgrading to version 2.6.7, 2.7.4 or 2.8.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
