The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-3104 since 04/09/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 84158 (Adobe AIR <= 17.0.0.172 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB15-11)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 100238 (Microsoft Windows Update for Vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player in Internet Explorer (KB3065820)).
Upgrading to version 18.0.0.160 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 19956.
