The smb_request_state function in cURL and libcurl 7.40.0 through 7.42.1 allows remote SMB servers to obtain sensitive information from memory or cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and crash) via crafted length and offset values.

The weakness was shared 06/22/2015 by Daniel Stenberg (Website). The advisory is shared for download at curl.haxx.se. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-3237 since 04/10/2015. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
