Apple Mac EFI before 2015-001, as used in OS X before 10.10.4 and other products, does not enforce a locking protection mechanism upon being woken from sleep, which allows local users to conduct EFI flash attacks by leveraging root privileges.

The weakness was released 06/30/2015 by Corey Kallenberg (xeno) with Two Sigma Investments as HT204942 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-3692 since 05/07/2015. The exploitability is told to be easy.
