A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox up to 38.x (Web Browser). It has been rated as critical. The YCbCrImageDataDeserializer::ToDataSourceSurface function in the YCbCr implementation in Mozilla Firefox before 39.0, Firefox ESR 31.x before 31.8 and 38.x before 38.1, and Thunderbird before 38.1 reads data from uninitialized memory locations, which has unspecified impact and attack vectors.
The weakness was disclosed 07/06/2015 by Karthikeyan Bhargavan (Paul) with Mozilla Developers (Website). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-2738 since 03/25/2015. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
