Details
A vulnerability was found in Wireshark up to 1.12.5 (Packet Analyzer Software). It has been classified as problematic. This affects the function de_emerg_num_list/de_bcd_num of the file epan/dissectors/packet-gsm_a_dtap.c of the component GSM DTAP Dissector. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:
epan/dissectors/packet-gsm_a_dtap.c in the GSM DTAP dissector in Wireshark 1.12.x before 1.12.6 does not properly validate digit characters, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted packet, related to the de_emerg_num_list and de_bcd_num functions.
