A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Apache CXF up to 2.7.1 (Application Server Software). Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component WSS4JInterceptor. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper authentication vulnerability. The URIMappingInterceptor in Apache CXF before 2.5.8, 2.6.x before 2.6.5, and 2.7.x before 2.7.2, when using the WSS4JInInterceptor, bypasses WS-Security processing, which allows remote attackers to obtain access to SOAP services via an HTTP GET request.
The weakness was presented 02/08/2013 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at cxf.apache.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-5633 since 10/24/2012. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
