The weakness was disclosed 08/11/2015 by Cererdlong with Alibaba Mobile Security Team as HT205030 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-5769 since 08/06/2015. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
