A vulnerability was found in Apple iOS up to 8.4.0 (Smartphone Operating System). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown code of the component UIKit WebView. UIKit WebView in Apple iOS before 8.4.1 allows attackers to bypass an intended user-confirmation requirement and initiate arbitrary FaceTime calls via an app that provides a crafted URL.
The weakness was disclosed 08/11/2015 by Cererdlong with Alibaba Mobile Security Team as HT205030 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-3758 since 05/07/2015. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $5k-$25k (estimation calculated on 06/10/2022). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 77257 (AIX 6.1 TL 8 : libxml2 (IV62447)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family AIX Local Security Checks.
Upgrading to version 8.4.1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be patching the affected component. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
