Apple iOS before 8.4.1 and OS X before 10.10.5 allow local users to bypass a code-signing protection mechanism via a crafted Mach-O file, a different vulnerability than CVE-2015-3802.
The weakness was disclosed 08/11/2015 by Ilja van Sprundel with Google Project Zero as HT205031 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-3805 since 05/07/2015. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 90315 (Apple TV < 7.2.1 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Misc. and running in the context r. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 123806 (Apple Mac OS X v10.10.5 and Security Update 2015-006 Not Installed (APPLE-SA-2015-08-13-2)).
Upgrading to version 10.10.5 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
