Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1, 4.5.2, and 4.6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service to an ASP.NET web site via crafted requests, aka "MVC Denial of Service Vulnerability."

The weakness was disclosed 09/08/2015 by Roberto Suggi Liverani with NATO Communications and Information Agency as MS15-101 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at technet.microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-2526 since 03/19/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 85847 (MS15-101: Vulnerabilities in .NET Framework Could Allow Elevation of Privilege (3089662)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 91091 (Microsoft .NET Framework Elevation of Privilege and Denial of Service Vulnerability (MS15-101)).
