A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Mozilla Firefox up to 40 (Web Browser). Affected is the function navigator.mozTCPSocket.open of the component TCP Socket API. The TCP Socket API implementation in Mozilla Firefox before 41.0 mishandles array boundaries that were established with a navigator.mozTCPSocket.open method call and send method calls, which allows remote TCP servers to obtain sensitive information from process memory by reading packet data, as demonstrated by availability of this API in a Firefox OS application.
The weakness was shared 09/24/2015 by Francisco Alonso (Felix) with NowSecure (Website). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-4503 since 06/10/2015. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
