A vulnerability has been found in Adobe Acrobat 5.0/5.0.5/5.0.6 on Unix (Document Reader Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function uudecoding of the file File Name Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, and integrity.
The bug was discovered 08/12/2004. The weakness was disclosed 08/13/2004 by Greg MacManus with iDefense (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at idefense.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2004-0630 since 07/07/2004. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
