CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in ownCloud Server up to 6.0.7/7.0.5/8.0.3 (Cloud Software). Affected is an unknown function of the component External SMB Storage Driver. The manipulation with the input value ; leads to a os command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

The external SMB storage driver in ownCloud Server before 6.0.8, 7.0.x before 7.0.6, and 8.0.x before 8.0.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SMB commands via a ; (semicolon) character in a file.

The weakness was presented 10/21/2015 by Lukas Reschke (Website). The advisory is shared for download at owncloud.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-4718 since 06/22/2015. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The successful exploitation requires a authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 86430 (Debian DSA-3373-1 : owncloud - security update), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Debian Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 175528 (Debian Security Update for owncloud (DSA 3373-1)).

Upgrading to version 6.0.8, 7.0.6 or 8.0.4 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (86430) and SecurityFocus (BID 76162†). See VDB-78706, VDB-78707, VDB-78709 and VDB-78710 for similar entries. Once again VulDB remains the best source for vulnerability data.
