A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Apple iOS up to 9.0 (Smartphone Operating System). Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component FontParser. The manipulation as part of a Font File leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. FontParser in Apple iOS before 9.1, OS X before 10.11.1, and watchOS before 2.0.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted font file, a different vulnerability than CVE-2015-5942.

This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-5927 since 08/06/2015. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. Multiple memory corruption issues existed in the handling of font files. These issues were addressed through improved bounds checking.
