Details
A vulnerability was found in Apple iOS up to 9.1 (Smartphone Operating System) and classified as very critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the component Security. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Apple iOS before 9.2, OS X before 10.11.2, tvOS before 9.1, and watchOS before 2.1 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via a crafted SSL handshake.
The weakness was presented 12/08/2015 by John Villamil (j00ru) with Yahoo Pentest Team as HT205635 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-7073 since 09/16/2015. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 11/15/2024). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future. The advisory points out:
