The msrle_decode_8_16_24_32 function in msrledec.c in libavcodec in FFmpeg through 1.1.3 does not properly determine certain end pointers, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds array access and application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via crafted Microsoft RLE data.

The weakness was released 03/04/2013 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind (j00ru) with Google Security Team as SA52594 as not defined advisory (Secunia). The advisory is shared at secunia.com. The public release was coordinated with the project team. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-2496 since 03/07/2013. The attack can be launched remotely.
