Heap-based buffer overflow in the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) component in Oracle Java SE 7 Update 17 and earlier and JavaFX 2.2.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors related to JavaFX, as demonstrated by VUPEN during a Pwn2Own competition at CanSecWest 2013.
The weakness was disclosed 03/07/2013 by James Forshaw with Zero Day Initiative as not defined tweet (Twitter). It is possible to read the advisory at twitter.com. The vendor was not involved in the public release. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-0402 since 12/07/2012. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
