A vulnerability was found in Wireshark up to 2.0.0 (Packet Analyzer Software). It has been rated as problematic. The mp2t_open function in wiretap/mp2t.c in the MP2T file parser in Wireshark 2.0.x before 2.0.1 does not validate the bit rate, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (divide-by-zero error and application crash) via a crafted file.
The weakness was released 01/04/2016 by Mateusz Jurczyk (Website). The advisory is shared at code.wireshark.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-8737 since 01/03/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
