Affected is the function s7comm_decode_ud_cpu_szl_subfunc of the file epan/dissectors/packet-s7comm_szl_ids.c of the component S7COMM Dissector. The s7comm_decode_ud_cpu_szl_subfunc function in epan/dissectors/packet-s7comm_szl_ids.c in the S7COMM dissector in Wireshark 2.0.x before 2.0.1 does not validate the list count in an SZL response, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (divide-by-zero error and application crash) via a crafted packet.
The weakness was disclosed 01/04/2016 by Mateusz Jurczyk (Website). The advisory is available at code.wireshark.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-8738 since 01/03/2016. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
