A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in LibTIFF 4.0.6 (Image Processing Software). Affected by this issue is the function _TIFFVGetField of the file tif_dir.c of the component TIFF Image Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a 7pk security vulnerability. The _TIFFVGetField function in tif_dir.c in libtiff 4.0.6 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (invalid memory write and crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via crafted field data in an extension tag in a TIFF image.
The weakness was presented 01/08/2016 by Hans Jerry Illikainen (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-7554 since 09/29/2015.
