A vulnerability was found in OpenSSH up to 7.1p1 (Connectivity Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function ssh_packet_read_poll2 of the file packet.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. The ssh_packet_read_poll2 function in packet.c in OpenSSH before 7.1p2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and application crash) via crafted network traffic.
The weakness was published 01/19/2016 by Ben Hawkes (Website). The advisory is available at anongit.mindrot.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-1907 since 01/15/2016.
