A vulnerability was found in Moodle up to 2.6.11/2.7.10/2.8.8/2.9.2 (Learning Management Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing in the library enrol/externallib.php of the component core_enrol_get_enrolled_users Web Service. The core_enrol_get_enrolled_users web service in enrol/externallib.php in Moodle through 2.6.11, 2.7.x before 2.7.11, 2.8.x before 2.8.9, and 2.9.x before 2.9.3 does not properly implement group-based access restrictions, which allows remote authenticated users to obtain sensitive course-participant information via a web-service request.
The weakness was shared 02/22/2016 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at moodle.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-5339 since 07/01/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 124446 (Fedora Security Update for moodle (FEDORA-2015-98)).
Upgrading to version 2.7.10, 2.8.9 or 2.9.3 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
