The MediaTek Wi-Fi kernel driver in Android 6.0.1 before 2016-03-01 allows attackers to gain privileges via a crafted application, aka internal bug 26267358.

The weakness was presented 03/07/2016 by Mark Brand with Google Project Zero as Nexus Security Bulletin, March 2016 as confirmed security bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared at source.android.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-0820 since 12/15/2015. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/01/2018).
