The xz_decomp function in xzlib.c in libxml2 2.9.1 does not properly detect compression errors, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (process hang) via crafted XML data.

The weakness was presented 03/21/2016 by Gustavo Grieco as HT206167 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-8035 since 11/01/2015. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
