A vulnerability was found in Adobe Flash Player (Multimedia Player Software) (version unknown) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the component Search Path Handler. Untrusted search path vulnerability in Adobe Flash Player before 18.0.0.343 and 19.x through 21.x before 21.0.0.213 on Windows and OS X and before 11.2.202.616 on Linux allows local users to gain privileges via a Trojan horse resource in an unspecified directory.
The weakness was released 04/09/2016 by Stefan Kanthak (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at lists.opensuse.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-1014 since 12/22/2015. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 24258.
