A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in LibTIFF libtiff5.tif (Image Processing Software). This issue affects the function NeXTDecode of the file tif_next.c. The NeXTDecode function in tif_next.c in LibTIFF allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (uninitialized memory access) via a crafted TIFF image, as demonstrated by libtiff5.tif.

The weakness was disclosed 04/13/2016 by Salvatore Bonaccorso (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-1547 since 02/06/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
