tmpfiles.d/systemd.conf in systemd before 229 uses weak permissions for /var/log/journal/%m/system.journal, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information by reading the file.
The weakness was released 04/20/2016 (Website). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-8842 since 04/08/2016. An attack has to be approached locally. A simple authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
