A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Novell ZENworks (the affected version is unknown). Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code of the file reports/default.asp of the component Patch Management. The manipulation of the argument Direction with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was disclosed 10/27/2005 by Dennis Rand (CIRT) with CIRT.DK (Website). The advisory is shared at support.novell.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2005-3315. The attack can be launched remotely. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $5k-$25k. By approaching the search of inurl:reports/default.asp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.
