A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in DeluxeBB (Forum Software) (affected version not known). This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file deluxe/posting.php. The manipulation of the argument templatefolder with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The bug was discovered 05/26/2006. The weakness was disclosed 06/14/2006 by Andreas Sandblad (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at secunia.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-2914 since 06/08/2006. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
After even before and not, there has been an exploit disclosed. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:deluxe/posting.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
