Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel 3.9 (Operating System). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function sco_sock_recvmsg of the file net/bluetooth/sco.c of the component Bluetooth Subsystem. The manipulation of the argument length with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
The sco_sock_recvmsg function in net/bluetooth/sco.c in the Linux kernel before 3.9-rc7 does not initialize a certain length variable, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel stack memory via a crafted recvmsg or recvfrom system call.
The weakness was released 04/06/2013 by Mathias Krause as not defined mailinglist post (Maillist). The advisory is available at lkml.org.
