Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in RealNetworks RealPlayer up to 10.5 6.0.12.1040 (Multimedia Player Software). This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. CVE summarizes:

Directory traversal vulnerability in RealPlayer 10.5 (6.0.12.1040) and earlier allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary files via a Real Metadata Packages (RMP) file with a FILENAME tag containing .. (dot dot) sequences in a filename that ends with a ? (question mark) and an allowed file extension (e.g. .mp3), which bypasses the check for the file extension.
