A vulnerability was found in WordPress 1.43 (Content Management System). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file js/wptable-button.php. The manipulation of the argument wpPATH with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in js/wptable-button.php in the wp-Table 1.43 and earlier plugin for WordPress, when register_globals is enabled, allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files via the wpPATH parameter.

The weakness was published 05/02/2007 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-2483 since 05/03/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
