A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in SquirrelMail (Mail Client Software) (the affected version is unknown). This issue affects an unknown code. The manipulation of the argument help with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was presented 07/12/2007 with iDEFENSE (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at labs.idefense.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-1924 since 06/08/2005.
