Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in the Admin web interface in OpenVPN Access Server before 1.8.5 allows remote attackers to hijack the authentication of administrators for requests that create administrative users.
The weakness was disclosed 05/08/2013 by Charlie Eriksen as not defined changelog entry (Website). The advisory is shared at openvpn.net. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the project team. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-2692 since 03/26/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 1.8.5 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
